This notice explains what Stockhouse collects when you buy or sell on it, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it. Some of the features it mentions, such as messaging and orders, are still being built; it describes how they'll work when they open.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, to run your account and send sign-in links. If you add a passkey, we store its public key only; the private key never leaves your device.
- What you tell us you buy: the categories, styles, brands, sizes, order sizes, budget and condition you choose when you join, and anything you add to your profile, such as a shop name or link.
- Your requests: what you're looking for, how much, your budget and any notes.
- How you use Stockhouse: for example the lots and sellers you view or save and the requests you post. We use this to show you lots that fit what you buy, so you don't have to keep a profile up to date.
- Messages you send and receive on Stockhouse, and reviews you give and receive.
- Orders: what you bought or sold, and the delivery address needed to ship it. We only ask for an address when there's an order to deliver. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we don't see or store full card numbers.
- If you apply to sell: your name, business details, location, what you supply and anything else you tell us. Approved sellers may also give us payout details, which are held by our payment provider.
- Your email choices, with the date you made them and the wording you agreed to.
- Basic technical data needed to keep the service secure, such as IP address and browser type, and records used to prevent spam and fraud.
How we use it
- To run your account, and to let you buy, sell, message and track orders.
- To recommend lots, sellers and requests that fit what you buy or sell.
- To understand demand, and to review sellers before they can list.
- To keep Stockhouse safe: preventing fraud and spam, and resolving disputes about orders.
- To email you about your account, orders and messages, and about our news only if you've opted in.
What other people see
- Demand. Sellers see what buyers are looking for in aggregate, such as how many buyers want a style or budget. Small groups that could point to one person are left out.
- Requests. Approved sellers may see your requests so they can offer you stock. They don't see your name, email or shop until you choose to reply or to buy from them.
- Messages and orders. When you message or buy from someone, they see what's needed to deal with you: your messages, your display or shop name and, for an order, where it ships. We may review messages to keep Stockhouse safe or to resolve a dispute.
- Reviews. After an order, buyers and sellers rate each other. Your ratings and the reviews you write show on Stockhouse with your display or shop name.
- Sellers. An approved seller's business name, location, the styles they're known for and their listings are public.
We don't sell your data. We share it with service providers who help us run Stockhouse, such as hosting, email and payments, only as far as they need to do that, and where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete it, we remove your data, except order and payment records we're required to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
Your choices
- Change your email preferences at any time in Settings. Opting out never affects your account.
- Edit or close any request from your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your account and data from Settings, or by emailing us.
